Depression

How often do you hear someone saying they are depressed, or do you know of someone who has depression? It may well be you!

A safe, confidential, non-judgemental environment

Group 9

Depression can begin at any time. However, the symptoms often begin after or during events in your life, such as a bereavement, loss of your job, losing someone close, moving home, starting a family etc. You may begin to feel low in your mood, losing interest in those tasks that you once enjoyed.  Also finding it difficult to motivate yourself. These are some of the symptoms of depression.

Sharing your feelings during therapy will allow you to recognise what may be taking place in your day-to-day life that is contributing to your depression.  As your therapist I may  introduce, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which will assist you during your time away from therapy, as a way of self-help.  This can consist of (not solely) a mood diary, so that you can monitor your mood, during certain times of the day, or activities you are involved in.

Sharing your feelings during your therapy sessions, may enable you to have a more positive outlook. It is imperative that you seek support through therapy, when experiencing depression. If you are experiencing signs of depression, make contact.  If it is someone you know, then share my details. You will be supported in a safe, confidential, non-judgemental environment.
